Tried Redken’s Butter Treat from its Smooth Down line last Friday on a twist-out that I’m currently rocking (5 day hair! woohoo!). Here’s my review…
What is Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat?
It is a Smoothing treatment is an ultra-rich rinse-out cream that provides intense smoothing, long-lasting conditioning, nourishment and control.
Price…
$14.99, which is pretty decent compared to natural hair products.
Ingredients…
Redken’s exclusive Interbond Conditioning System delivers a unique Ionic Smoothing Complex of macadamia oil, candelila wax and cationic refiners to help replenish oils, provide intense smoothing and a long-lasting, frizz-free finish.
How does it Smell?
Nutty and floral smelling, not too overpowering
How to use…
For regular use or as an intensive treatment, apply to towel-dried hair after shampooing. Comb product through hair with a wide tooth comb. Leave on 5 to 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
*NOTE: I used this as a butter and applied it to each twist, I didn’t rinse out.
How I used it…
For each twist I applied a dime size to the shaft of my hair, smoothed the hair with a detangling brush and twisted from root to end.
My results!
I’m currently on day 5 of my twist-out. I really like this product. I decided to try it after reading Curly Nikki and she explained that she had success with this on her very porous hair. My hair is also porous and gets very frizzy and needs butters and greases (Yes! Grease!). Aside from the frizziness from the Alabama humidity, this product has held up very well and the definition of my twists is still there, even with NO RE-TWISTING. I give Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat a 2 thumbs up!
Yay for a successful product!
