In January, I added a jewel to my Natural Hair Regimen, The Bentonite Clay hair mask. After washing my hair, I apply this wonderful hair mask once a month, twice if my hair is really dirty, or my scalp is irritated. Since I took down my Bohyme sew-in Thursday night, it was my first course of action to get my scalp free of toxins and build up.
The clay has been noticed and considered as the most effective item in detoxifying human body. Nowadays, we are always exposed to heavy toxins everyday. Continuously, toxins enters into our body from the air we breathe and from the food item we intake. Bentonite clay plays an important role in helping our body from getting rid of these useless toxins.
Here is what I used: 1 1/2 cups of Now Bentonite Powder, 1/2 cup Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar, Plastic Bowl, Plastic Spoon.
The Bentonite clay can be found at any Vitamin or health food store and the Apple cider vinegar can be purchased at food stores like Fresh Market or Whole foods.
To make the mask, mix the 1 1/2 cup of bentonite powder and the 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar in a plastic bowl with a plastic spoon until the mixture becomes a thick paste. You can adjust the thickness to your liking by adding more powder or vinegar. DO NOT USE METAL SPOONS OR CONTAINERS! They interact with the minerals in the clay and will ruin the mixture. It should be a greenish grey color.
I divide my freshly washed, damp hair into four quadrants. For each quadrant, I part 1/2 inch sections and apply a generous amount with my hand from scalp to end until all of the hair is coated.
I let the Bentonite Clay hair mask sit on my hair for about and hour and rise thoroughly with cool water.
This hair mask leaves my hair soft and lush because it removes impurities from the hair and minerals that can be left behind from hard water used when washing. The mask also gives my hair ridiculous definition and STRETCHES the curl as you can see in the pictures! Woot Woot :-)! This mask can also be mixed with water to make a facial mask.
Love it!
